History
On April 3, 2019, AdventHealth Shawnee Mission applied with Lenexa for a new 25-acre medical campus.[1][2] In early July 2019, the Lenexa City Council approved the plan for the medical campus at Lenexa City Center.[3][4]
On February 17, 2021, it was announced that AdventHealth would be delaying the construction of its medical campus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[4][5] In early November 2021, plans for the medical campus were reignited.[6]
In late June 2022, the Lenexa City Council approved AdventHealth to start building AdventHealth Lenexa which will be 244,000 square-foot. And a three story medical office building which will be 56,000.[7][8]
On April 13, 2023, AdventHealth broke ground on its medical campus. The hospital and medical office building are part of a first phase project.[9][10][11] In late April 2023, the Lenexa City Council approved the AdventHealth Lenexa campus for tax incentives for being built in Lenexa City Center.[12]
