Opinion on inclusion for notable alumni
I have tried to include 2016 grad Nelly Cheboi as a notable alumna given her recent win of the CNN Hero of the Year award for 2022 for her nonprofit work with founding TechLit Africa. User Magnolia677 has removed this inclusion arguing that Nelly is not a notable person as per Wikipedia's definition. I would argue that she is valid for inclusion under "Creative professionals" rule 4.c. -- Nelly's nonprofit work has won "significant critical attention" with the recent nomination and win at CNN's 2022 Hero of the Year event. As per the "Additional criteria" section, "Failure to meet these criteria is not conclusive proof that a subject should not be included; conversely, meeting one or more does not guarantee that a subject should be included." The threshold for inclusion as a notable alumna seems reasonable in my opinion. She is an alumna who has gone on to do nationally and internationally recognized work. Other thoughts? See articles here: https://www.cnn.com/2022/12/11/us/cnn-heroes-all-star-tribute-hero-of-the-year/index.html, here: https://www.ourquadcities.com/news/national-news/2016-augie-alum-wins-cnn-hero-of-the-year/, and here: https://www.wqad.com/video/news/local/augustana-alum-nelly-cheboi-wins-cnns-hero-of-the-year/526-0f341ac4-eae9-4e43-bc68-65029f7bb331. Nelly is also listed on Forbes 30 Under 30: https://www.forbes.com/30-under-30/2022/social-impact and her work was also covered by Business Insider for the recent CNN Hero win: https://africa.businessinsider.com/local/leaders/techlit-africa-founder-nelly-cheboi-crowned-cnn-hero-of-the-year/rgjjcds (LibraryViking) — Preceding undated comment added 19:38, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
Opinion?
Are there objective criteria for being listed in the "Selected Faculty" listing? Or should this list be titled "Some Faculty" members?
Selected Faculty
- Dr. Thomas Banks - Professor of Classics, Chair of the Classics Department
- Dr. Lendol Calder - Associate Professor of History, Chair of the History Department, teaches in the First-Year Honors Program, Foundations
- Dr. David Crowe - Associate Professor of English, Chair of the English Department, teaches in the Sophomore Honors Program
- Dr. David Dehnel - Professor of Political Science, Chair of the Political Science Department, prefers to be called "Dave"
- Dr. Emil Kramer - Assistant Professor of Classics
- Dr. Joseph McDowell - Associate Professor of English
- Dr. Kristy Nabhan-Warren - Assistant Professor of Religion and a member of the faculty for First-Year Honors Program, Foundations
- Christina Lorge-Grover - Residence Hall Director for the Westerlin Residence Center

No . . . as far as I can tell, there were no selection criteria. It appears that the faculty named are, mostly, involved with the college's Honors Program and Classics Department. I was reluctant to strike the list - it's not harmful or misleading - but I agree that some more-neutral term is worth using in the title. I'll switch it to "some," for now.
Copyrighted text
I reverted the article because I think that David-snowball may have inserted a large amount of copyrighted text in this edit. I am not suggesting that he was intentionally violating copyright. I think he just did not know. I have had difficulty finding the pages that most of the text came from because the college appears to have removed or moved a lot of their web pages. However, the "music" content came from here. It is a Google cache because the page is no longer online. David-snowball's contributions can be seen here. He has uploaded five pictures from the college's website (his only other edits are to this article). He claims that they can be used freely, but I have not found that on their website and the music page above has a copyright notice. It would be rather unusual for them to do so, but not unbelievable. Because all of the text was added at once, some of it confirmed to be from the college's website, and he uploaded five pictures from the college's website, I think that the rest of the text came from there too. Unless the copyright status can be confirmed, I think that the article should not include the text and that the pictures should be deleted. -- Kjkolb 10:10, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
He's a professor here, and the chair of Augie's Speech major, so I assume he would know. Loque
Notable alumni
Makes more sense to be sorted by year of graduation, since they all have that in common. If sorted by last name, then format should be Lastname,Firstname I would think. Sbeattie 21:56, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
A Prairie Home Companion is not produced by NPR. It's an American Public Media program. I changed that in the Notable Alumni section for Tiffany Hanssen. Stan Furlong, 7 January 2015 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.226.45.198 (talk) 15:30, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Augustanacollegeseal.jpg
Image:Augustanacollegeseal.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Adjacent to the Mississippi?
The city of Rock Island is adjacent to the Mississippi River but Augustana itself is well inland. No part of the campus is adjacent to the Mississippi. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.149.68.134 (talk) 03:36, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
