Modern practice

Is this the origin of the modern practice in France and the latin countries? And do we have the Quakers to thank/blame for its absence from Britain/Ireland/USA? I remember reading that the kiss as a greeting was common in England through the Elizabethan period.--Shtove 16:05, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
