Mandamarri (Telugu: మందమఱ్ఱి) is a town and a municipality in Adilabad district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[1] Mandamarri had a population of 66,176. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Mandamarri has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%. Male literacy is 70%, and female literacy is 52%. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
There are coal mines belonging to Singareni Collieries in this region. It is also referred to as Kalyani Khani.
Mandamarri is very accessible to Mancherial and Bellampalli.
There are 10 underground coal mines belonging to Singareni Collieries Company Limited. Viz., KK1, KK2 , KK5, SMG 1, Kasipet UG, MK 4, RK 1A. The coal production from the M/S SCCL is catering to the needs of the National Thermal Power Corporation, Ramagundam, and many surrounding industrial buildings such as cement plants in Devapur, power plants in Maharashtra, paper mills in Sirpur Kagaznagar, and so on.
Religion
The town has a spiritual ambience around it as it is sprinkled with religious centres and temples all over:The CSI Church near first zone, Carmel Church in Carmel High School, Mosque near Market. The Lord Venkateshwara Temple; the Shirdi Sai Temple, run by Sri Sathya Sai Seva Samithi; the Lord Hanuman Temple in the middle of the market; the Ramalayam, famous for the annual Kalyanam; the newly famous Panchamukhanjaneya Temple; and the Ayyappa Temple, buzz with religious fervour all through the year. Sri Santhoshimatha temple, a newly built Shivakeshava Temple in the Yapal area of the town, attracts huge number of devotees. In addition to these, the town also has many mosques and churches. The town is always full of religious activity, be it the Vinayak Chaturthi, Devi Navaratri, or other festivals. The Shirdi Sai Temple is well known for its religious services and activities all throughout the year. The town is very famous for the main festival of the Telangana region: Dasara. There is a big fireworks display in town on the day of this festival that lasts over four hours.
Transportation
The town has a bus station in the middle of the busy market area, but it has direct and comfortable services to important destinations like Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Nirmal, Nanded, Shiridi etc.
Education
Mandamarri has good academic base. It has well known schools like Carmel High School, Singareni Collaries High School, Little Flowers, Mother Teressa, Aurunodaya High School and Raghavendra High School.
Recreation
There is a new park constructed by Singareni Collieries that grabs the attention of many children. There is also a swimming pool in Mandamarri which is constructed & maintained by Singareni Collieries. There are two recreation clubs in the town: Ellandu club & C.E.R club. Recently a park was opened in MANDAMARRI which is spread across 25 acres (100,000 m2) which has facilities like boating,fountains,canteen,rabbits,rarely available star tortoise,aviary,aquarium, etc... this park is maintained by singareni.There is a theatre in the town named Sri Krishna Theatre which is one of the oldest theatres in the district.
The municipality of Mandamarri since its formation in 1983 as there is a case pending in High Court regarding the chairmanship of the municipality.
