Hey peoplekind! I joined a few years ago and primarily edit articles related to motorsports and American football, and I (only half-jokingly) call myself the "Guardian of the ARCA Menards Series". I created an account because of cleanup issues with Jayski's Silly Season Site and the long wait for a page on NASCAR driver Austin Theriault. You can find my page creations here, my contributions here, and you can leave a message on my talk page here.
History
I joined Wikipedia on 15 January 2016 to edit the aforementioned Jayski page. After that, I started updating NFL players pages for free agency. Early on, RFD was one of my most valued mentors. However, as spring came along, I leaned more towards NASCAR articles, as NASCAR is my favorite sport. Around this time, Royalbroil was a great leader by example. Yankees10 has also been a great Wikipedian to look up to. During the summer, I realized just how awesome ZappaOMatic is. As the months ticked by, I started to renovate articles of sportspeople from championship teams of the Milwaukee Bucks and Green Bay Packers, but as NASCAR season started I was again drawn to that. Later on, I started to focus on making articles more in depth in the style of Bcschneider53. In 2018, I focused more on the ARCA Racing Series and both NASCAR K&N Pro Series, adding results tables to a lot of driver pages and keeping up most ARCA-related pages; I'm happy to say that now there's about a three-person informal WikiProject related to the series. In 2019, I expanded into education (high schools, mainly) and Ultimate as well as new page reviewing and draft reviewing, but honestly, just catch me editing whatever my whim feels like that day.
What I Focus On
To borrow a term from Leggomygreggo8, I like to think of myself as a one-man WikiProject, editing whatever I feel like needs improvement. I have done some work on articles pertaining to athletes who were notable before Wikipedia was created. If I see a NASCAR driver who does not have a page go full-time, I'll do that. Some other times, my NASCAR work tends to be creating pages of up-and-coming lower series drivers. No matter what I may say, however, you may find my recent contributions filled with topics that have just caught my whim, including topics that have relevancy to my life. I have done some work with high schools in the state of Wisconsin, especially detailing fine arts sections. I wouldn't call myself a vandalism fighter, but as time constraints loom and the watchlist grows larger, it sometimes constitutes the best use of my time spent on Wikipedia. I have also picked up an affinity for the American Ultimate Disc League and update many pages related to that league.
Interests
I am a huge NASCAR fan first and foremost, but I also follow my hometown Green Bay Packers as well. I take great pride in being a resident of the great state of Wisconsin. I also follow Kevin Harvick passionately, and my favorite teams in the MLB, NBA and AUDL are the Milwaukee Brewers, Bucks and Madison Radicals. I am active on PlayStation, and enjoy Magic: The Gathering. Another one of my hobbies is sport card collecting, and I have over 2,000 football cards. As for personal participation, I have run cross country and track and sang for one of Wisconsin's premiere show choirs.
I'm related maternally to Curly Lambeau (first cousin thrice removed). Unfortunately, none of his playing genes transferred down the line. As for coaching ability, that's more subjective but I think I'm okay.
My interactions on Wikimedia have made for some quite interesting encounters with subjects of pages and their relatives.
If you've made it this far, you've probably noticed that I'm not a huge fan of sentence case.
As you can see, I like userboxes and am a very complex person.
Although I live in America, my Belgian tendencies shine through, as most of my ancestors were Flemish.
I have never made an edit as an IP address.
My global edit count is a bit higher than my English edit count, I’ve helped out in various smaller capacities in Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Simple English, Spanish, French, Italian and maybe a couple other Wikis.
Philosophies
Why do in two edits what could be accomplished in one?
Yes, IPs are human, so yes, you should treat them with decency. Yes, they also can be not knowledgeable, so sometimes you can reprimand them. Yes, they are also sometimes blatant vandals, so sometimes you can block them and not feel guilty.
Some editors believe some areas of the encyclopedia are "more important" than others. My viewpoint is that if the notability guidelines call for it, it isn't less important than anything else.
Edit counts, while useful as an overall indicator, can be misleading both in the case of many superfluous edits or in the case of a few large edits.
If you don't know what you're doing, don't make controversial changes.
Empty userpages are nice at first glance, but edit histories reveal all.
If I place a page improvement tag on a page you created, don't take it personally. I am just trying to improve the encyclopedia by letting you and other editors know that the page requires some attention.
I aspire to be mentioned in a New York Times article like other Wikipedians have (you either get this clear as day or not at all).
If I were to create a page of a racing driver, it would include a considerable amount of prose, not just an infobox and a results table. In fact, I would prioritize getting the prose in over the infobox and the table.
Maybe there is relevancy behind actions that may seem detrimental to the encyclopedia.
I drop by AfD debates from time to time, and I tend to use GNG as a valid policy even when notability of a certain field isn’t met.
Recognition
You deserve it for creating the Flex Tape article.
