DescriptionEpicormic shoot on Callistemon showing fragile attachment IMG 5058-63L.jpg
English: Most Myrtaceae freely produce epicormic branches from dormant buds when the domination of higher branches is removed. Their stumps accordingly coppice freely after felling. Here we see some epicormic branches sprouting below the point of severance of a major trunk. However, they are only about 2 years old and accordingly not deeply attached. A little force applied with one hand easily removed one of the sprouts.
