Summary

Description
English: After years of debate, whether or not the flag of Latgale should include a red panel with a silver gryf, a historically significant icon of the region of Latgale during Polish rule, the Latvian Heraldry commission had ruled that no foreign iconography can be flown on any official Latvian flags. So on 19 April 2023, the President of Latvia, in accordance with the third part of Article 3 of the Law on Latvian Historical Lands, signed a decree that made the flag of Latgale - a dark blue banner with a white stripe official.
