===C-Class Superheroes===
{{Nihongo4|C-Class|C級|C-kyū}} is the lowest class out of the four Hero Association classes that has a total of 390 superheroes and has the most superheroes out of any class. Most superheroes in this class have strength that exceed that of normal humans. When a new superhero joins the Hero Association, they start out here unless they managed to score high enough to be put in any of the higher classes. They must perform weekly heroic acts or else they will be removed from the Hero Registry. Among the C-Class superheroes are:

Since Saitama rushed around town searching for bad guys for the purpose of maintaining his C-Class position, he was noticed by the civilians and found suspicious. Tanktop Tiger was called in order to stop him.

He and his companion made the first appearance when they found the body of a monster that Saitama killed moments before. While they were isolating the corpse to maintain the civilians away, they were spotted by some passers and took credit for the monster's death. Later that day, D-Pad and Funeral Suspenders tried to thwart a bank robbery being perpetrated by the A-Class criminal Bull-Bull.

Later that day, D-Pad and Funeral Suspenders tried to thwart a bank robbery being perpetrated by the A-Class criminal Bull-Bull. After successfully defeating several of his henchmen, both heroes were defeated simultaneously and with ease by Bull-Bull. During the Surprise-Attack Plum side story, he was one of the many heroes which tried to attack the monster that was devastating a police station in order to get a lot of credits, since it was an important emergency. However, he arrives at the scene when Saitama has already killed the monster.

In a side story he was called to Child Emperor's lab, together with other heroes, to fulfill one of his experiments; they were all called moments later to stop a monster's activity. Red Muffler tried then to stop the Jumping Spider monster together with the other heroes, but was easily blown away by the creature because of a misunderstanding of the monster's real capability. During the Surprise-Attack Plum side story, he was one of the many heroes which tried to attack the monster that was devastating a police station in order to get a lot of credits, since it was an important emergency. However, he arrives at the scene when Saitama has already killed the monster. During Tatsumaki's Day Off side story, he tried to stop the disaster level "Wolf" Hotdog monster, but before he could start the battle, Tatsumaki arrived and obliterated the monster in a moment, leaving Armored Chief Clerk speechless.

He takes his job quite seriously, since he decided to face the Sea King in a shelter, in order to protect the civilians in there, even if he was alone with minor heroes; he was quickly defeated, but he bought enough time to let Genos enter the scene and, with his intervention, he saved many lives.

====Hyottoko====

During Garou's "hero hunt", Red Nose claimed to Studless and Hyottoko that they could defeat Garou if they attack him together just because he's still simply a human. When Red Nose was about to show off his own martial arts skills to them, Garou himself appeared behind him and mercilessly beat up all of them.

Revision as of 03:05, 26 June 2017

This is a list of the canonical fictional characters appearing in the Japanese manga series One-Punch Man with story by One and art by Yusuke Murata.

Main characters

Saitama

Voiced by: Makoto Furukawa[1] (Japanese); Max Mittelman[2] (English)

The title character is a bald-headed 25-year-old man who has been bored of fighting because he is easily able to defeat enemies with a single punch.Vol. 1 He lives in an apartment in the city. Three years prior to the start of the series (and when he had hair) he was applying for jobs as a salaryman, where he defeats a a crab-like monster that attempted to kill a child.Ch. 2 He says he became a hero for the fun of it.Ch. 5

Genos

Voiced by: Kaito Ishikawa[1] (Japanese); Zach Aguilar[2] (English) Genos (ジェノス, Jenosu) is a 19-year-old cyborg who becomes Saitama's disciple after bearing witness to Saitama's easy victory over Mosquito Girl.Ch. 6-7 Four years prior to the start of the story line, his family was killed by a rampaging cyborg. Genos was nearly killed in the attack and his body was destroyed so, to keep him alive to stop the rampaging cyborg for justice, a scientist named Dr. Kuseno took Genos in and modified his body to make him a cyborg with destructive capabilities. However, Genos was steadfastly convinced that justice demanded vengeance against and destruction of the cyborg.Ch. 7

Hero Association

The Hero Association is a superhero organization founded by the multi-millionaire Agoni in order to fight monsters, crimes, and various threats. The Hero Association uses a class-system with 4 classes (from C to S) and ranks within those classes to organize every superhero accordingly. Right now, the Association counts about 547 superheroes (made up of 17 S-Class superheroes, 39 A-Class superheroes, 101 B-Class superheroes, and 390 C-Class superheroes).[volume & issue needed] The Association was founded by Agoni three years ago prior to the main storyline when his grandson was saved from the monster Crabrante by an unknown bystander (who ironically turns out to be Saitama himself). The Association is financed by donations from citizens to protect them. Despite its lofty ideals, the Hero Association is full of corruption and very shallow in judging heroes and monsters. It considers the lower class heroes as expendables and it doesn't really care about their lives. The organization judges things too much by appearance and end up making huge errors. After the attacks from the Monster Association and from the Garou incident, the public has been criticizing the Hero Association for its lack of effectiveness in handling the disasters.

S-Class Superheroes

S-Class (S級, S-kyū) is the highest ranking class of the Hero Association. In addition to Genos, they consist of the following characters:[3]

Blast

Blast (ブラスト, Burasuto) - Rank 1 is the most powerful superhero in the whole Association alongside Saitama, whose whereabouts and identity are currently unknown. He looks like an average man with a superhero costume and a cape similar to Saitama's outfit except with fiery contour around the zippers. He is said to show up on his own terms and seldom responds to requests from the Hero Association indicating that just like Saitama, he also looks for a worthy opponent. As one official of the Association mentioned, Blast may only truly reveal himself when a "God" level threat endangers humanity.

At an earlier point in his life, he saved a younger Tatsumaki from a monster at a research facility and inspired her to become Terrible Tornado.

Terrible Tornado

Voiced by: Aoi Yūki[1] (Japanese); Marieve Herington[4] (English)

Terrible Tornado (戦慄のタツマキ, Senritsu no Tatsumaki) - Rank 2 is an incredibly strong esper possessing unmatchable psychic powers. She is youthful in appearance (Despite being 28, Saitama often mistakes her for a child) and often acts very childish, being very condescending and selfish when interacting with others. Terrible Tornado is prone to tantrums when people ignore her, and her behavior is revealed to stem from childhood traumas of being tested in research facilities and witnessing her sister Fubuki being bullied for also possessing telekinetic powers. As a result, she has developed an overprotective relationship with her sister and makes a point not to forge friendships. This however caused Fubuki to develop an inferiority complex and caused a rift between the sisters. Tatsumaki does come to save her sister when she senses her in danger.

At a young age, Tatsumaki was imprisoned in a research facility. She was attacked by a monster that was also held in the research facility. Blast arrived and killed the monster in an instant, but he pointed out that she could have killed the monster on her own. He then encouraged Tatsumaki to never expect anyone to come and save her, which lead to her philosophy of depending on herself alone rather than on others. This eventually led to Tatsumaki becoming a superhero named Terrible Tornado.

True to her rank, she is much stronger than even her fellow S-class heroes and is able to defeat even "Dragon" level monsters with little to no effort (while some of the other S-Class heroes can't even defeat a single "Dragon" class monster without help); with her immense telekinetic powers she could uproot an entire underground base along with all of its inhabitants, send hundreds of artillery shells launched by a space ship back at the ship with ease, and even pull a meteor from space to destroy a monster.

Despite her powers, Tatsumaki still has limitations. She was defeated when she simultaneously fought against multiple Dragon level monsters. Although Tatsumaki was winning, Psykos took advantage of her distraction and hit her on the head from behind, temporarily weakening Tatsumaki's powers. Only three characters have shown some resistance to her powers: Golden Sperm and Garou. The third, Saitama was easily able to shrug off Tatsumaki's attacks. The best Tatsumaki could do was cause Saitama's muscles to twitch. She found it excruciatingly difficult (she began to bleed profusely due to exhaustion and no longer being able to keep her injuries at bay, nearly throwing up) to telekinetically lift Saitama more than a few feet in the air and immediately dropped him on the ground.

Silver Fang

Voiced by: Kazuhiro Yamaji (Japanese); Will Barret (English)[5]

Silver Fang (シルバーファング, Shirubā Fangu) - Rank 3 is an expert martial artist, master of the "Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist" (流水岩砕拳, Ryūsui Gaisai-ken), and one of the most powerful human combatants in the world, despite his age indicating that he is the oldest hero in the whole Association. His real name is Bang (バング, Bangu) and he has an older brother named Bomb, who is also a martial artist and likely close to Silver Fang in strength, although he does not do hero work. He owns a dojo with only a single student Charanko after Garou, a former disciple of his, attacked the dojo and defeated every single student to the point of near death. That incident was a painful memory for Bang and he is in look out for disciples to pass on his martial arts.

As a hero, Bang is wise and displays a great deal of patience when compared to others in S-class, and often scolds other heroes for being too prideful and selfish. He is one of the few heroes to recognize Saitama's true power which he witnessed when Saitama destroyed a meteor that was going to wipe out Z-City. Bang is well acquainted with Saitama and Genos and has lot of respect for Saitama.

Following Saitama defeating Garou and the battle against the Monster Association, Bang had a talk with Atomic Samurai telling him that he's going to retire.

Atomic Samurai

Voiced by: Kenjiro Tsuda (Japanese); Kyle Hebert[6] (English)

Atomic Samurai (アトミック侍, Atomikku Samurai) - Rank 4, real name Kamikaze (カミカゼ) is a samurai-themed hero who sports a kimono with an atom symbol on the back of it. He wields a daisho and is the most powerful swordsman of the Hero Association, claiming to have the ability to slice even atoms in half. Atomic Samurai is a condescending and very proud individual, as evidenced by his refusal to shake Saitama's hand upon first meeting him. Atomic Samurai is also a very stupid person. While testing King's strength, even though King was unable to draw out the katana and muttered gibberish, Atomic Samurai thought that King cut the apple on a cellular level and that he possessed high wisdom. Atomic Samurai also has three known disciples, all of whom are close to but do not reach Atomic Samurai himself in strength, Iaian, Okamaitachi, and Bushidrill. Atomic Samurai's disciples are all in A-Class where they are unable to move up to S-Class due to Amai Mask. His real name is Kamikaze.

He was modeled after Kyuzo from The Seven Samurai.

Child Emperor

Voiced by: Minami Takayama (Japanese); Sara Cravens[6] (English)

Child Emperor (童帝, Dōtei) - Rank 5 is a child genius and inventor who uses his technological creations to fight and is the youngest hero in the whole Hero Association. Despite his superior intelligence and weapons, he decided to train his body extensively to become able to fight also with his bare hands. However, even if he's relevantly stronger than a normal fighter, his body is too young to make him strong enough to be a decent S-Class hand-to-hand fighter. Child Emperor's true strength resides in his sophisticated gadgets and massive weapons that he created by himself that are contained into his school bag. He's also a former assistant of Metal Knight and has a personal lab in Y-City. He wears a light buttoned-up collared shirt with dark shorts and always carries his black school bag with him.

Metal Knight

Voiced by: Tesshō Genda (Japanese); Taylor Henry (English)

Metal Knight (メタルナイト, Metaru Naito) - Rank 6 is a mysterious scientist who uses various remote-controlled robots with high destructive capability, but also others with large assortment of capacity, from reconstructions to healing functions. His real name is Dr. Bofoy (ボフォイ, Bofoi).

With the aid of his inventions, he's reputed to be one of the strongest and most dangerous hero of the Heroes Association and he is the former master of Child Emperor. Metal Knight is not shown most of the time, since he's very reserved and act mainly through his fighting robots, till now he was fully seen only in one occasion during which he wore a lab coat over a light shirt. He made his first appearance during the catastrophe of the giant meteor that threatened Z-City. During this time, he sent a huge remote controlled robots to the scene which met Genos, there for the purpose of trying to stop the meteor and wouldn't collaborate with Genos.

Following the fight against Lord Boros and the Dark Matter Thieves, Metal Knight started salvaging some equipment from the Dark Matter Thieves' destroyed ship which he used to rebuild A-City. Prior to the fight against the Dark Matter Thieves, Drive Knight tells Genos not to trust Metal Knight which he'll know why soon enough.

He is shown to be callous as he only cares of his own safety and building advanced military equipment which is a potential threat to humanity. Dr. Bofoy is wary of Saitama when the latter effortlessly destroyed his latest battle robots.

King

Voiced by: Hiroki Yasumoto[5] (Japanese); Rich Brown[6] (English)

At first believed to be the most physically powerful man on the planet and feared even by others in the S-Class, King (キング, Kingu) - Rank 7 is in actuality a completely normal human who has accidentally been credited for most of Saitama's achievements. The only two things abnormal about King are his God-level gaming skills and his exceptionally loud heartbeat when scared, which is ironically feared by his enemies and mistaken as his impressive fighting spirit called "The King Engine". He has three long scars on the left side of his face, caused during one of his first meetings with monsters which Saitama killed and typically wears casual habits, sometimes with some anime references on. People believe that King received those scars when he was fighting a God level monster, when actually he was scarred by a Tiger level monster when he was running away. While King possesses no superpowers, no one in the hero association except Saitama is aware of it, with Saitama himself not minding that King got most of Saitama's pre-Association credit. Saitama has kept this a secret even from Genos, although he warned King to either live up to the public expectations or quit.

King's induction into the Hero Association is one of the few examples of the Association's blunders. He is actually an unemployed, cowardly person with who is a video game nerd, having formerly been a Video Game Champion. Ironically, despite being hailed as one of the best fighters, King had actually never even brawled in his entire life. He was an innocent bystander often caught by the attacks of many monsters. He used to close his eyes and cower and when he opened, the monster was already slain by Saitama. Saitama never used to linger around the scene, so the Hero Association (judging on King's impressive appearance) promptly concluded that King had slain monsters and gave him all the credit. Without King's consent, the Hero Association inducted him directly to the S Class without having him take the physical and written tests and was hailed as the strongest newcomer of S Class. King did not protest due to the S Class perks and wealth and he soon became one of the most popular heroes. King is often targeted by monsters and assassins, however, due to his luck, his enemies overestimate him and end up running away because of his appearance.

King is one of the few heroes to recognize Saitama's true power and is a very good friend of the hero. He remembers Saitama who was actually the one to save King from the monsters in the past. He tries to introduce Saitama to new anime, but the latter finds them boring. Saitama often complains that King goes all out in video games. King's skills in video games come useful when he single-handedly defeats the entire Fubuki Group in a game when Saitama, Genos and Bang lose. King respects Saitama's strength and was afraid why Saitama had not showed up when Garou was rampaging. Upon witnessing Saitama's victory over Garou, King was in complete awe.

Zombieman

Voiced by: Takahiro Sakurai[5] (Japanese); Vernon Dew[6] (English)

Zombieman (ゾンビマン, Zonbiman) - Rank 8 is a practically immortal hero who can regenerate from any wound, who is later revealed to be a former test subject of the House of Evolution. His fighting abilities are not keen as those of the other S-Class heroes, so he uses various kinds of weapons.

Voiced by: Yōji Ueda (Japanese); Todd Haberkorn[6] (English)

After the spaceship started to attack, Drive Knight left upon stating that he has errands to run and warns Genos to beware of Metal Knight declaring that Bofoy is his enemy and that he'll soon find out why. Pig God (豚神, Buta Gami) - Rank 10 is an extremely obese hero with superhuman strength that helps support his body weight and an incredible resistance to injuries, who is always eating and defeats his enemies by swallowing them since he can open his mouth enormously. He's dressed with a dark sweater and light pants.

Pig God is first shown at the S-Class Hero Association meeting, perpetrated in the headquarter of the Association in A-City, moments before the Dark Matter Thieves attacked. He didn't take part in the battle since he got hungry and left to get some food which he later explained to Metal Bat.

Superalloy Blackluster

Voiced by: Satoshi Hino (Japanese); Zeno Robinson[6] (English)

Superalloy Blackluster (超合金クロビカリ, Chōgōkin Kuro-bikari) - Rank 11 (also known as Superalloy Darkshine) is a black bodybuilder whose muscles are stronger than steel and who lost all his hair from training like Saitama. He always goes around almost naked, only with his necktie and black briefs on, to show the others his statuesque body, of which he's very proud.

He was originally a weak child who could not even lift small weights, building up to superhuman levels over time. Despite his immense physical capacity (one of the highest in the Heroes Association) and apparent bravado, Alloy struggles to overcome his self-doubt.

Watchdog Man

Voiced by: Yūji Ueda (Japanese); Arnie Pantoja (English)

Watchdog Man (番犬マン, Banken Man) - Rank 12 is a highly efficient and stoic hero responsible for dealing with mysterious beings activities in Q-City, who is always seen wearing a dog costume. He has shown to be incredibly strong and an expert in dealing with monsters, despite his size and look.

Watchdog Man was present at the S-Class Hero Association meeting, perpetrated in the headquarter of the Association in A-City, moments before the The Dark Matter Thieves attacked. He wasn't seen in battle there since he had to go make sure that Q-City is safe which he explains to Metal Bat.

While rarely seen in the middle of his fights, he is implied to be an incredible fighter, usually standing on piles of defeated monsters without being injured or changing his expression. Watchdog Man even defeated and badly injured Garou in his pre monster form.

Flashy Flash

Voiced by: Kōsuke Toriumi (Japanese); Lex Lang[6] (English)

Flashy Flash (閃光のフラッシュ, Senkō no Furasshu) - Rank 13 is a hero with feminine features whose power is tremendous speed (though Saitama is still much faster than him). His speed is so great, in fact, that he has attacked at speeds where his reflexes can't match his movements, and he can't register what he has done until the attack is completed. In combat, he uses his beloved sword named "Instakill", but is capable of fighting hand-to-hand as well. Flashy is also one of the few heroes to acknowledge Saitama's superior strength after he was able to easily dodge Flashy's fastest attack.

Tank-Top Master

Voiced by: Katsuyuki Konishi[5] (Japanese); Patrick Seitz[6] (English)

Tanktop Master (タンクトップマスター, Tankutoppu Masutā) - Rank 15 is a tall, muscular, highly athletic man, professionist of the renowned tanktop style of fighting with superhuman strength, and the leader of a group of tanktop fighting style practitioners called the Tanktopper Army. Unlike his brothers, minor heroes who bear a grudge against Saitama, Tanktop Master is more level-headed and wise. He is very caring man for his brothers-disciples and other colleague heroes, like Mumen Rider. He has a strong sense of justice, shown when Garou went too far injured against him and he decided to spare his life, under Mumen Rider's advice, but is also a really proud individual, always trying to reach new power and surpass others with his tanktop philosophy.

Metal Bat

Voiced by: Wataru Hatano (Japanese); Sam Riegel[6] (English)

Metal Bat (金属バット, Kinzoku Batto) - Rank 16 embodies the stereotype of a classic Japanese banchō delinquent, as reflected by his dialect. He uses a metal bat for a weapon, which he wields in a street-fighting fashion. He's shown to have a very potent fighting spirit that grants him superhuman abilities, allowing him to battle on level terms with a combat expert like Garou, even after being severely injured. Metal Bat caught Garou off guard and could have killed him, if his little sister did not stop him. His impulsive attitude is an element of his fighting style, but he loses his rash mannerisms when he is around his little sister, whom he cares deeply about.

Puri-Puri Prisoner

Voiced by: Masaya Onosaka (Japanese); Ray Chase (English)

Puri-Puri Prisoner (ぷりぷりプリズナー, Puripuri Purizunā) - Rank 17 is a homosexual hero with great tonnage and superhuman physical strength, who constantly finds himself in prison because "he can't resist molesting cute boys." So he's always dressed with a prison uniform. He maintains a list of boys he has an interest in, sometimes without their knowledge. Puri-Puri Prisoner has the ability to drastically increase his muscle mass to fight at full strength, which he often refers to as his "Angel Form". In the process of reaching this "form", he often tears his clothes apart leaving him completely nude.

A-Class Superheroes

A-Class (A級, A-kyū) is the second tier of superheroes in the Hero Association. They are assigned a numerical ranking within the tier. Among the known A-Class superheroes are:[7]

Handsome Kamen Amai Mask

Voiced by: Mamoru Miyano[8] (Japanese); Ben Lepley[4] (English)

Amai Mask (イケメン仮面アマイマスク, Ikemen Kamen Amai Masuku) is a beautiful model, singer, and celebrity, considered the most popular person in the world. He always dresses in designer clothing. Endowed with immense combat abilities, he is one of the strongest characters of the series and surpasses even some S-Class heroes. His body seems to be semi-indestructible, capable of healing quickly from potentially lethal wounds; the majority of his powers remain a mystery. In a later chapter, he shows obsession with Saitama and his powers due to the way he fights because it is fast and clean just like Amai Mask likes it.

Despite his charismatic exterior, he hides a merciless dark side, refusing to take prisoners where he instantly executed all of Boros's surviving servants due to his beliefs about evil and the necessity of its extermination. Befitting his status as a celebrity, he also believes heroes must be popular and beautiful. Thus, he remains in A-Class at Rank 1 to keep less beautiful/popular/powerful heroes from tarnishing other superheroes, and ultimately, his reputation which often annoys the S-Class heroes.

He is very narcissistic, having a philosophy that powerful heroes must also look very beautiful to embody justice. Before defeating Amai Mask, Garou criticizes his philosophy, calling him a hideous narcissist. A while after Amai Mask witnesses Saitama defeat Garou, he speaks to a group of wannabe heroes of the beauty of overwhelming power, which he believes Saitama possesses.

Iairon

Voiced by: Yoshimasa Hosoya (Japanese); Xander Mobus[6] (English)

Iaian (イアイアン, Iaian) is the top disciple of the S-Class hero Atomic Samurai, he is extremely devoted to his master. He wears a medieval iron armor similar to a knight and uses a long sword to fight, as shown, with the ability of a great swordsman. He accompanied Atomic Samurai to the S-Class meeting in A-City and was caught by the destruction of the city during the Dark Matter Thieves invasion. During the fight, he loses his left forearm to Melzalgald.

He is listed as A-Class, Rank 2. Other heroes note that he would be an S-Class meeting were it not for Amai Mask.

His name is references iai, traditional Japanese sword-fighting, and aian, the Japanese word for iron.

Blue Fire

Voiced by: Kyle McCarley Blue Fire (ブルーファイア, Burū Faia) is a hero said to have superior combat abilities, near to those of S-Class heroes. His ranking is A-Class, rank 6. He wears a kung fu suit and wields small flame throwers underneath the sleeves of his coat, that he uses to burn his foes. He decided to take down the rumored monster in Z-City after the creature defeated Golden Ball and Spring Mustachio, but he came to the scene after it was already beaten by Saitama. Blue Fire lost one of his hands while fighting Garou when the latter brutally ripped the limb.

Stinger

Voiced by: Tomokazu Seki (Japanese); Chris Hackney[6] (English)

Stinger (スティンガー, Sutingā) is arguably one of the most skillful fighters of the Hero Association's A-Class, initially listed on the anime profile as Rank 11. : he fights with great agility and using his beloved special spear "Bamboo Shoot" to pierces his enemies. He's dressed with a tight black suit made of bandages, over which wears a loose white vest. During the Sea King arc, he single-handedly took down a fraction (few) of the Sea King's soldiers while Saitama took down the majority. However, he exhausted himself tremendously doing so and ends up beaten unconscious by the Sea King himself.

Lightning Genji

Lightning Genji (電光ゲンジ, Raikō Genji), ranked 17 in A-Class, has an appearance that strongly resembles Spark Man from the old Mega Man video game franchise, usually fighting with two combat sticks that are charged with electricity.[volume & issue needed] He's presumably a decent fighter, since it was sent alone to D-City to investigate the mysterious beings activities in there and, in another mission, he weakened the Grizzly Nyah, a giant monster's offspring, with the help of Stinger (monster that was, in the end, defeated by Saitama).

Lightning Max

Voiced by: Sōichirō Hoshi (Japanese); Ben Pronsky (English)

Lightning Max (イナズマックス, Inazumakkusu) or simply called by his real name, Max, is a young prodigious karateka with a great agile combat in sportive outfit and a lightning symbol on his left cheek, who prefers to fight with kicks. His ranking in A-class is 20. To support his fighting style, Hyper Karate (ハイパー空手, Haipā Karate), Lightning Max dons special shoes modified with mini-rockets and gunpowder, making him capable of explosive kicks. In the anime, he and Smile Man were sent to A-City at the start of the series to stop Vaccine Man. They get battered and beaten by the monster with ease. He decided to intervene to the case of the rumored monster in Z-City after the creature defeated Golden Ball and Spring Mustachio, but he came to the scene after it was already beaten by Saitama. Lightning Max is among the superheroes that are defeated by Sea King. During Dark Matter's invasion in anime, Lightning Max and Stinger assist Mumen Rider for a rescue operation.

Smile Man

Smile Man (スマイルマン, Sumairu Man), ranked 27 in A-Class, is a masked hero with a big smile on his suit, which gives him his name, and using a big kendama as main weapon. In the anime, he and Lightning Max were sent to A-City at the start of the series to stop Vaccine Man, but they get battered and beaten by the monster with ease. He decided to intervene to the case of the rumored monster in Z-City after the creature defeated Golden Ball and Spring Mustachio, but he came to the scene after it was already beaten by Saitama. In the more recent manga issues he is seen to have two brothers who rank below him, and share costume design as well as the choice of weapon being oversized toys and being named after emotional reactions.

Golden Ball

Voiced by: Sota Arai (Japanese); Kaiji Tang (English) Golden Ball (黄金ボール, Ōgon Bōru), ranked 29 in A-Class, is a fairly skilled combatant which appearance is that of a stereotypical hoodlum, often carrying a lollipop in his mouth. His weapon of choice is a mechanical slingshot, which he uses to fire golden balls made by a special metal that morph into bullets of various caliber and design. He is often paired with Spring Mustachio for missions and they usually share free time, being good friends. He went to Z-City together with Spring Mustachio to find out the rumored monster that could live there, in order to rank up in A-Class.

Spring Mustachio

Voiced by: Makoto Yasumura (Japanese); David W. Collins[4] (English)

Spring Mustachio (バネヒゲ, Bane Hige), ranked 33 in A-Class, is an extremely skilled combatant with superb combat reflexes, resembling a matador in elegant clothes. He is able to morph his cowl into a fencing sword, but it is probably just a trick. His peculiar rapier's attacks are able to pierce through granite and steel with ease, since his rapier is made of a particular metal, probably the same of Golden Ball's bullets, and can morph shape and dimension. He is often paired with Golden Ball for missions and they usually share free time, being good friends.

Heavy Kong

Heavy Kong (ヘビィコング, Hebī Kongu), ranked 34 in A-Class, is a tall, bald-headed, bearded, and muscular man whom looks like a caveman-themed wrestler with a tattoo that resemblance the one of Mike Tyson. He's probably fairly strong, since he was sent alone to investigate mysterious beings activity in W-City. He fought with Peach Terry and other A-Class heroes against a big monster's offspring, the Grizzly Nyah, finding the task nearly impossible, since it was too much strong and finishing wasted by the monster.

Snek

Voiced by: Shin-ichiro Miki (Japanese); Kirk Thornton[4] (English)

Snek (蛇咬拳のスネック, Jakōken no Sunekku), initially ranked 38 in A-Class, was the lowest ranking A-Class hero, the 38th, after he was promoted to rank 37. He wears a smoking jacket whose texture resembles the python's skin, using a hand-to-hand fighting style similar to the snake-style. He has stated in the manga that his suit is actually the skin of a snake monster he defeated, and it is impervious to clawss, fangs, and beak attacks, presumably making him immune to piercing damage. He was sent alone to investigate mysterious beings activity in F-City, reporting that Hammerhead was spotted there in suspect attitudes (he was only searching for job though). He works directly in the Heroes Association 6th Official Examination Center and delivers seminars to heroes who have recently passed the official entrance exam. In fact, it was him that made the seminar welcome to Genos and Saitama; he found their behavior intolerable, since he was totally ignored by them. He attempts newbie-crushing on heroes that he feels are a threat to his rank, as he tried to do later that evening with Saitama, since he found out his true potential. However, Saitama beat him unconscious almost without noticing it.

Despite his sneaky nature, he takes his job quite seriously since he decided to face the Sea King in a shelter, in order to protect the civilians in there, even if he was alone with minor heroes; he was quickly defeated, but he bought enough time to let Genos enter the scene and, with his intervention, he saved many lives. He decided to participate, for the sixth time, to the Super Fight tournament, during which he wore a typical oriental martial arts suit; it is said that he was always able to reach the top 4 positions in the previous editions, though he never won.

In the original webcomic, his name was Acrobatic White Suit (アクロバティック白スーツ, Akurobatikku Shiro Sūtsu): he wore a white suit instead of a snake-patterned one and he and his fighting style had nothing to do with snakes. It is stated that he doesn't like much the S-Class heroes.

Voiced by: Saori Hayami[8] (Japanese); Laura Post[4] (English)

Blizzard from Hell (地獄のフブキ, Jigoku no Fubuki) - Rank 1 is a powerful esper. She is notorious for searching out recruits to work under her within the B-Class as part of the Fubuki Group. While appearing confident and calm on the surface, she is in fact incredibly insecure and frustrated at living in the shadow of her older sister Terrible Tornado who is a far more powerful and talented esper than she is. As such when she attained her rank in the B-Class, she refused to move up as she believed she could never attain to reach highest A-Class ranks by herself and instead decided to recruit others in B-Class, believing that their collective strength would one day outmatch her sister's singular strength. Her elder sister is S class hero Tatsumaki.

She is one of the few heroes to recognize Saitama's power when she saw him fight on many occasions and has lot of respect for him. She is obsessed with making Saitama join her group, but he refuses each time as he doesn't believe in her philosophy. Fubuki is surprised that Saitama is well connected with Genos, Bang, and King. She allies with Saitama occasionally.

She is shocked to see Saitama defeat Garou and fight Tatsumaki on equal terms and acknowledges that he "has reached the top most level". After witnessing Saitama's power against Tatsumaki, Fubuki decides to overcome her inferiority complex and urges her group to aggressively level up to A Class.

Eyelashes (マツゲ, Matsuge) - Rank 2 is a hero with long eyelashes wearing a black suit, he's the second-in-command of the Blizzard Group and the principal subaltern of Fubuki. He works in couple with Mountain Ape most of the time. He fights in a peculiar way, using a couple of eyelash curlers as a weapon which can occasionally morph and be turned into two couples of war blades, similarly to Spring Mustachio and Golden Ball's weapons, called "Retina Eyeleteer". During the Demonic Fan side story he and other 20 members of the Fubuki Group took down a C-Class criminal, Banero, before facing the Demonic Fan, together with Fubuki and the rest of group, being easily overcome by it (the Demonic Fan was eventually first dismantled by Tatsumaki and then totally destroyed by Saitama).

Wild Monkey

Mountain Ape (山猿, Yama Zaru) - Rank 3 is a very tall man wearing a black suit. He's the third in command of the Fubuki Group and works in couple with Eyelashes most of the time. Mountain Ape fights with his bare hands, counting on his wide physical force, which he can increase by switching into a "Wild Mode", like those of wild animals, particularly the strength of the apes.

During the Demonic Fan side story he and other 20 members of the Fubuki Group took down a C-Class criminal named Banero before facing the Demonic Fan, together with Fubuki and the rest of group, being easily overcome by it. The Demonic Fan was eventually first dismantled by Tatsumaki and then totally destroyed by Saitama.

Voiced by: Yoshiaki Hasegawa (Japanese); Arnie Pantoja (English)

Jet Nice Guy (ジェットナイスガイ, Jetto Naisu Gai) - Rank 50 is a cyborg whose appearance is similar to Mumen Rider, wearing boxing gloves. He is known to be an average fighter. Jet Nice Guy decided to face the Sea King in a shelter, in order to protect the civilians in there, even if he was alone with minor heroes; he was quickly pierced by the Sea King's fist for jumping in alone. However, he survived due to his cyborg body and he bought enough time to let Genos enter the scene and, with his intervention, he saved many lives.

When the Fubuki Group was in need of a new car, Lily started a part-time job to earn the amount required like the other members. Thanks to Fubuki's intervention, which got the bounty of some C-Class and B-Class criminals, the group finally got its own car. When the Fubuki Group went to the Heroes Association headquarters prison for monsters in order to let Fubuki interrogate Psykos, Lily and the other members were appointed to guard the entrance, for the purpose of slow down Tatsumaki. She was knocked out by the S-Class hero with most of the other members with ease. After few times, Lily and the rest of the group recovered strength and reached Fubuki, which told them she intended to disband the group (to keep safe the members from Tatsumaki's fury) and left to finish the fight with her older sister, but Lily and the other members didn't want to quit and followed Fubuki to lend her a hand in her fight. In fact, Lily and the rest of the group joined Fubuki when she was about to face again Tatsumaki and, after all the members prepared to fight at their top, the fight was stopped due to the still convalescent status of Tatsumaki, which still didn't recovered from the harsh war with the Monster Association, and the arrive of Saitama, which returned after he was trapped underground by Tatsumaki. Fubuki then, together with her beloved group, prepared to come back to the heasquarter and settle the monsters which escaped during her duel with the sister.

Tank-top Black Hole

Voiced by: Atsushi Imaruoka (Japanese); Joshua Tomar (English)

Tanktop Black Hole (タンクトップブラックホール, Tankutoppu Burakku Hōru) - Rank 81 is one of the many brothers of the S-Class hero Tanktop Master and, like the other brothers, he possesses an athletic body. He's known to be a decent fighter, since he asserted he has a grip strength of 200 kilo's, and quite smart as shown when he turned the crowd to his favour when squaring up to Saitama. After the meteor incident, Saitama got promoted from one of the lowest ranks to rank 5 in C-Class and Tanktop Tiger, thinking he cheated, called his brother Tanktop Black Hole to settle things up. In an attempt to sabotage his public image, Tanktop Black Hole shouted that Saitama was the responsible for every damage in the city because he destroyed the meteor in a wrong way, turning the mob against Saitama. He then challenged him together with his brother in a public hero fight in order to make justice (he was only trying to get rid of him though), however, the two brothers were easily knocked out by Saitama, who declared that he did what he could to cause the least damage as possible.

During the Grizzly Nyah side story he and Tanktop Tiger were appointed to keep anyone not allowed out of the dangerous zone where the monster was run about.

When Tanktop Vegetarian came to Garou with all the Tanktop Fighters and even with Tanktop Master to obtain revenge, Tanktop Black Hole was present to support his brother. He was defeated in no time by Garou, together with the other Tanktop Fighters.

His tanktop is black colored, a nod at his hero name.

Mushroom (マッシュルーム, Masshurūmu) - Rank 93 is a girl with a mushroom-like type of hair who wears a bandit mask and mushroom-like shoulder pads. She was sent to investigate mysterious beings activities in H-City along with C-Class hero Horse-Bone.

C-Class Superheroes

C-Class (C級, C-kyū) is the lowest tier of the Hero Association. When a new superhero joins, they start out here unless they managed to score high enough to be put in any of the higher classes. They must perform weekly heroic acts or else they will be removed from the Hero Registry. Among the C-Class superheroes are:

Mumen Rider

Voiced by: Yuichi Nakamura[5] (Japanese); Robbie Daymond[2] (English)

Mumen Rider (無免ライダー, Mumen Raidā) - Rank 1 is an average person, suited with a cyclist equipment, seen fighting against odds he has no chance surviving. He is famous for travelling with, and figuratively fighting with (as a weapon), his bicycle named "Justice" (ジャスティス号, Jasutisu-gō). He is one of the few who acknowledges Saitama's true power. Despite being fairly useless, his popularity with the public and his devotion has gained him top rank of the C-Class. In fact, he was also at the same school as Saitama when both were beaten up by the sleeveless bullies, during the Piggy Bacon side story. During that period he had already begun to act like a hero, calling himself "Name-less Bicycle Commuter". He at one point attempted to stop the two delinquents who attended the school and took some people's money; it was later insinuated that he was beaten up by them. Even if it's stated that he could rank up to B-Class, he decided to remain the first ranked C-Class hero because he doesn't feel ready for B-Class yet.

Mumen Rider makes his first appearance when the Paradisers were causing havoc in the city streets. He tried to oppose the criminal group, but being beaten down in an instant. The news media later gave him the credit for defeating the Paradisers when it was really Saitama and Speed-o'-Sound Sonic that did the job.

When J-City was attacked by the Seafolk, he decided to run into it ignoring the orders from the headquarter to retreat, since the situation was out of his range. When he came to the scene, the Sea King was about to kill a seriously injured Genos and Mumen Rider decided to fight him. Despite being heavily outclassed, Mumen Rider continued the battle until he was almost killed by the Sea King, but he bought enough time to let Saitama arrive and save the situation. Some time later, after Saitama is promoted to B-Class, Mumen Rider met him at an oden shop and thanked Saitama for saving his life.

In the anime, he appears at Hero Association headquarter in A-City during the invasion of the Dark Matter Thieves, in order to help out with the rescuing operation together with Lightning Max and Stinger.

Mumen Rider reappears as one of the targets of Garou's "hero hunt"; before they could start a battle, the Tanktop Fighters led by Tanktop Master came to avenge Tanktop Vegetarian and Tanktop Master himself challenged Garou. During the fight between Tanktop Master and Garou, after Tanktop Master gained the upper hand and was preparing to finish him off, Mumen Rider stopped him, saying that a S-Class hero can't go this far against a simple punk. After Tanktop Master approved, Garou showed his true skills and with a powerful counterattack, he defeated Tanktop Master. After that, Mumen Rider and the Tanktop Fighters tried to fight him, only to be quickly beaten. At the hospital, Mumen Rider was put in the same room as Tanktop Master and was visited by Saitama, and discussed about what Garou is to Saitama.

His original name, which literally translates to "Licenceless rider", and his look are a reference of the Kamen Rider franchise.

Tank-top Tiger

Voiced by: Hiromu Miyazaki (Japanese); Chris Tergliafera[4] (English)

Tanktop Tiger (タンクトップタイガー, Tankutoppu Taigā) - Rank 6 is the lowest of all the hero brothers of the S-Class hero Tanktop Master, he's quite strong though, being capable of fighting with a tiger like style of combat, and, like the other brothers, he possesses an athletic body. He made his first appearance when Saitama encountered Sonic for the second time. Since Saitama rushed around town searching for bad guys for the purpose of maintaining his C-Class position, he was noticed by the civilians and found suspicious. Tanktop Tiger was called in order to stop him.

After the giant meteor was destroyed by Saitama, Tanktop Tiger and Tanktop Black Hole confronted Saitama in front of a crowd of people. They tried to attack Saitama only to be easily defeated by him.

D-Pad

Voiced by: Hiroki Gotō (Japanese); Kyle Hebert (English)

Together, they tested the new effective strength of Marugori, which destroyed an entire city with ease; they planned then to take over the world combining the most powerful mind and body, but were intercepted by Saitama. While trying to smash Saitama, Marugori accidentally killed his beloved brother Fukegao and, tremendously furious, he vented his anger against Saitama, blaming for his brother's death and then he hit him with various blows, making a huge crater in the ground. He mourns for Fukegao after seemingly having defeated Saitama with one of his punches, saying that he feels empty. However, Saitama emerged without a scratch from the chasm and, after reaching his face with a huge jump, he strongly punched Marugori's head with a single punch, killing and sending him crashing to the B-City, destroying it. Marugori is effectively a parody of the Colossal Titan from the Attack on Titan anime series, his English voice actor playing the series lead.

Voiced by: Wataru Takagi (Japanese); Edward Bosco[4] (English)

Hammerhead (ハンマーヘッド, Hanmāheddo) - Class B criminal is the former leader of the "Paradisers" (桃源団, Tōgen-dan), in the original webcomic "New Metropolis Group" (新都団, Shinto-dan), a terrorist group proclaiming that the actual society is corrupted and "while rich people grow fat, poor people are obligated to work", so they are trying to create an utopia in which work is voluntary and the unemployed receive full financial support (Hammerhead doesn't truly trust this cause, he simply doesn't want to work), while destroying every symbol of richness. He is a tall, muscular man with a thick skull and horizontal scar across his nose.

He first appears where the Paradisers were causing havoc and even beat up Mumen Rider. His men were all killed by Zeniru's bodyguardSpeed-o'-Sound Silence while his armor was destroyed by Saitama who sends Hammerhead running. When Feather understood there was no hostage and was ready to fight back Big Iron himself, Tatsumaki and Saitama enter through the wall and beat Feather unconscious. Big Iron then, thinking they came to support the hero, recognized Tatsumaki and incited his men to take her down in order to become famous, attacking Saitama first since he was in his way. He is introduced as a killer-for-hire who occasionally worked for Zeniru, a famous rich man, and faced the Paradisers on behalf of Zeniru, which was the target of the army. Garou

Also known as the "human monster", Garou (ガロウ, Garō) - Estimated disaster level: more than "Demon" (at the beginning); more than "Dragon" (at his final battle) Garou alongside Boros is the most powerful antagonist in the series thus far (it's stated that them both were about almost equivalent strength by ONE on his Twitter stream, and that Garou could have possibly been the one mentioned in Shibabawa's prophecy about Earth's fate). He used to be the best disciple of the S-Class rank 3 hero Silver Fang, but he was expelled by his master for mercilessly beating up the other disciples. This resulted in Bang losing almost all of his students (except for Charanko).

As a child, Garou was often bullied by other kids. He was made to play a villain and was often beaten up by the bully who used to pretend to be a superhero. Slowly, Garou began to despise heroes and support villains and was upset when the villain always ended up losing. Hence, he wanted to be a villain who could defeat all heroes and win in the end. Despite his evil persona Garou had a high sense of honor too.

Many years later, under Bang's tutelage, Garou became a master of the martial art Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist and was considered the best student Bang ever had. Four months prior to Saitama joining the Hero Association, Garou realized there was nothing left to learn from Bang and trashed his fellow classmates. After misusing his abilities, Garou was expelled from the dojo. Since then, Garou began to train in several martial arts on his own, so that he would be strong enough to singlehandedly take down the entire Hero Association.

Garou is a prodigy in martial arts, capable of learning various fighting styles just by observing people fight once. He is skilled in identifying and exploiting his opponent's fighting weaknesses and develop countermeasures against for his opponents' fighting styles. He can even incorporate all elements of the martial arts he has learnt into one single deadly martial art. In addition to this, Garou possesses peak physical abilities which surpass many A Class heroes and even many S Class heroes. He only becomes stronger and more powerful with every fight and was dreaded by many heroes as the Hero Hunter. He slowly evolves into a monster with increased physical attributes and regeneration (albeit at the cost of his skill). In one of his rudimentary monster forms, he was faster than the speed of light. He and Saitama are the only beings faster than the hero Flashy Flash who is fast as the speed of light. Before turning into a monster, Garou was actually defeated many times. He nearly lost to Metal Bat; he was defeated by Watchdog Man. He was defeated by his own master Bang and Bang's elder brother Bomb. He was defeated by three demon class monsters and by Psykos. Saitama himself (unintentionally and unkowingly) defeated Garou on three occasions, before their final showdown after Garou's transformation.

Garou defeated nine of the seventeen S Class heroes. Puri Puri Prisoner, Genos, Tanktop Master, Flashy Flash, Superalloy Dark-shine, Pig God, Zombie-man, Child Emperor and Atomic Samurai, these S Class heroes were all physically incapacitated after fighting Garou. Top A Class heroes like Magic Trick Man, Blue Fire, Heavy Tank Fundoshi, Death Gatling, Golden Ball and Spring Mustachio were also defeated by Garou. Even the entire Tanktop Army led by Tanktop Master was no match for Garou. The monster Black Sperm, who had defeated Atomic Samurai was beaten by Garou. Garou also defeated Amai Mask, Fubuki and Mumen Rider who all held No.1 positions in A Class, B Class and C Class respectively.

Garou was savoring his victory over the heroes when he was confronted by Saitama. The two antagonists fought each other and Garou was shocked at Saitama's deceptive strength. Although Garou possessed excellent technique, he admitted that Saitama was far superior to him in terms of strength, power, reflexes, speed and sight. Garou is the only antagonist to survive the most number of hits from Saitama and was relatively unhurt (although Saitama may have been holding back because in his view, Garou was still a human). Saitama had to even use two handed normal punches and two Serious moves on Garou. The latter was even able to counter and dodge some of Saitama's attacks, albeit temporarily. He kept transforming into more monstrous forms as the fight progressed. However, Garou began to lose morale against Saitama and lost control of his form, gradually reverting to human.

Saitama proved to be more than a match for Garou. After being overwhelmed by Saitama's prowess, Garou began to panic. Saitama deconstructed Garou's psyche by asking him simple questions and went on to expose the errors in it, stating that Garou actually intended to be a hero in the first place. Saitama also told Garou the reason why he lost, essentially breaking Garou's morale. Saitama even pointed out that Garou never actually killed any hero nor did he attack the public.

Although other heroes demanded Saitama to execute Garou then and there, Saitama refused. In the end, Garou was able to escape, with only Saitama seeing him. After Garou's defeat, many heroes felt humiliated for being unable to stop his rampage. The Hero Association faced lot of flak from the public for being unable to handle the Garou crisis properly and many scams came under scrutiny.

Other characters

The following characters that appear in the series are not heroes, monsters, or main villains.

The Public

The Public is important in this universe as the very purpose of heroes is to protect civilians. The society is very harsh and fickle and often judges heroes by popularity and appearance. Even though Saitama has been a hero for fun for three years, the public does not recognise him and considers him a weirdo. This prompts Saitama and Genos to join the Hero Association to avoid being branded as criminals, although this doesn't entirely solve the problem for Saitama. Genos disregards the public despite having fans because he believes he hasn't done anything truly worthy, while Saitama never receives any credit for all his feats.

Despite saving the citizens from the giant meteor, Saitama is considered a cheat for stealing credit from S Class heroes and a villain by the public for the destruction of the city from the debris of the shattered meteor.

When the Deep Sea King attacked the city, many heroes nearly lost their lives trying to save the citizens. But when Saitama slew it effortlessly, the public was quick to dismiss the monster and the heroes as weak. Saitama had to sacrifice his credit so that the public would pay attention to the wounded heroes, at the cost of him being called a cheat. If Saitama kills a monster effortlessly, the public believes that the monster was very weak to begin with.

Despite King in reality being a completely normal person, the public is very delusional. King is treated as a celebrity by the public, even getting love confessions. Despite Amai Mask's callous nature, narcissism and questionable traits, he is the most popular hero as the public is charmed by his good looks and singing and acting and his fighting skills.
