Pre-season

[edit]

On 4 April 2024, Rudy Fernández announced his retirement after the 2024 Summer Olympics, leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season after 12 years with the club.[1] On 18 June, another departure followed, as Madrid and Carlos Alocén mutually agreed for the player to put an end to his career at the club.[2] On the next day, Sergio Rodríguez announced his retirement, completing his second stint with Real Madrid and finishing a highly successful career.[3] A week later, the club announced the departure of Vincent Poirier upon expiration of his contract.[4]

On 2 July, Mario Hezonja extended his contract until 2029.[5] The first new signing for Madrid was announced on 3 July, as Andrés Feliz joined from Joventut on a 3-year deal.[6] On 4 July, coach Chus Mateo extended his contract for two more years.[7] On the next day, Edy Tavares renewed until 2029.[8] More renewals followed, as Džanan Musa and captain Sergio Llull agreed to remain in Madrid until 2025.[9][10] On 12 July, the second new face arrived at the club, as Canadian guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes joined from Yenisey on a 2-year deal.[11]

On 23 July, Fabien Causeur left Real Madrid upon expiration of his contract, putting an end to his 7-year stint at the club.[12] Three days later, Serge Ibaka returned to Madrid on a one-year deal.[13] On 20 August, Usman Garuba signed a three-year deal with the club, returning after three seasons in the NBA.[14]

On 29 August, Real Madrid announced the departure of Guerschon Yabusele after three seasons with the club.[15] Five days later, Alberto Abalde renewed his contract until 2027.[16]

  1. ^ A homegrown player is a player that played for at least three years before the age of 20 on a Spanish team. In Liga ACB, the team must register at least four homegrown players in rosters of 10–12 players or at least three homegrown players in rosters of 8–9 players. In EuroLeague, the team did not have any limitations regarding the number of homegrown players.
  2. ^ A overseas player is a player from outside EEA, FIBA Europe or ACP states. In Liga ACB, the team may register at most two overseas players. In EuroLeague, the team did not have any limitations regarding the number of overseas players.
  3. ^ In Liga ACB, the team may register under-22 players linked to the youth system. In EuroLeague, the team may register under-20 players linked to the youth system.
  1. ^ Since 24 October 2023, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv play their home matches in Belgrade due to the inability to host matches in Israel as a result of the 2023 Israel–Hamas war until further notice.[20]
