"Blame It on the Edit" is the fourteenth episode of the fifteenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race.[1][2]
Episode
[edit]The episode's main challenge has contestants perform in a space-themed music video to RuPaul's song "Blame It on the Edit", a song from RuPaul's fourteenth studio album Mamaru (2022).[3] The contestants write their own verses and learn choreography by Miguel Zarate.[4][5] The contestants also have a Tic Tac lunch with RuPaul and Michelle Visage.[6]
In addition to RuPaul, the judges are Visage and Ross Mathews.[4] Sasha Colby is declared the winner of the challenge. Luxx Noir London is deemed safe, placing Anetra and Mistress Isabelle Brooks in the bottom. The two face off in a lip-sync to "When Love Takes Over", but neither is eliminated from the competition.
Reception
[edit]Trae DeLellis of The A.V. Club gave the episode a rating a 'B'.[6] Charlie Ducan of PinkNews opined, "The verses are surprisingly original for the umpteenth cast version of a Ru song in the past few years, and though an otherwise frontrunner stumbles in her offering, the music video is sickening."[7] Production designer Gianna Costa received an Emmy Award nomination for the episode.[8]
