Shweta Gulati is an Indian actress who primarily works in Hindi television. Gulati is best known for portraying Tiya Ahuja in Remix and Dr. Nikita Malhotra in Dill Mill Gayye, Sandhya Shastri in Gili Gili Gappa and Mohini Singh in Main Hoon Aparajita.[2] Gulati has acted in films such as Detective Naani (2009) and Aflatoon (2023), a commercial success.[3]
Career
[edit]Her first advertisement was directed by Prahlad Kakkar. Later more commercial ads came her way. Her television career began when she was cast in the role of Juhi in the Star Plus show Shagun.[4] Post Shagun she went on to play a tomboy Tara in the youth show Kyun Hota Hai Pyarrr. She also portrayed a grey shaded character in Lipstick[5]
Gulati's first lead role was in Remix, which debuted on 1 November 2004 on Star One. She was cast as Tiya Ahuja and took voice modulation training to change her voice to suit Tia's personality.[6]
She then played a negative character in Amber Dhara. Her next project was a sitcom about the battle of sexes called Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which aired on the channel Bindass, in which she played the role of Riya, the business director at an advertising agency who had no time for men or love.[7] She became host for Zara Nachke Dikha, alongside Karan Singh Grover.
In 2018, Gulati played Dr. Nikita Malhotra in Dill Mill Gayye, which was a major success on television.[8] In 2009 she hosted Dekh India Dekh, the sixth season of Comedy Circus, on Sony Entertainment Television. She has also hosted the Red Carpet of the Gold Awards of 2010.
Gulati then played Sandhya Shastri in the kids' show Gili Gili Gappa. In 2009 she pl6 Neeti Tipnis in Romilla Mukherjee's comedy film Detective Naani. She also played Suhaani in Jo Biwi Se Kare Pyaar and Dolly in Partners Trouble Ho Gayi Double.[9]
From 2020 to 2021, she played Janvi Jaiswal Bansal in Tera Yaar Hoon Main.[10] From 2022 to 2023, she played Mohini Singh in Main Hoon Aparajita.[11]
