Durdhara

According to the Jain work Parishishtaparvan, Chandragupta Maurya allowed him to leave Pataliputra along with his two wives, after granting his daughter Durdhara permission to marry Chandragupta.

This line, attributed to Mookerji, pp. 14, 34, appears to be problematic. The Mookerji citation links to this book which while stating on page 234:

While thus proceeding (samāyāntam) the Princess saw Chandragupta and fell in love with him at first sight. Then the father said to her that she might select him as her husband by the rite of svayamvara because "very often the daughters of Kshatriyas have recourse to this practice."

Later,

Another interesting fact furnished by the Jain story is that Chandragupta’s Queen bore the name of Durdhara. She is also stated to be the mother of Bindusara.

Could the current citation (pp. 14, 34) be from a different edition? Or is it simply incorrect?—Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 12:32, 4 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Conquest of the Nanda Empire

Conquest of the Nanda Empire should be merged into this article since its mostly about defeat of Dhana Nanda by Maurya. Capankajsmilyo (talk) 04:16, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
