Portrait of Mr. Ong

[edit]

There should be a picture of Ong Teng Cheong in the infobox. Can anyone put it up please? It has recently been removed. Bonchygeez (talk) 16:47, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ong a Christian ?

[edit]

I don't believe Mr Ong was a Christian. He once stated in a TV interview that he was more of a Confucius scholar. Tomhongs 07:02, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Actually I dont believe Mr Ong is a Buddhist either. I remembered that his had Christian funeral rites. Can someone please provide some links to back his religion as Buddhism? 203.169.116.90 (talk) 05:45, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requested not to have state funeral?

[edit]

Trying to find out more about why there was not a state funeral, found a discussion where multiple people wrote as recalling having heard that he had himself requested not to have one, but to have a normal funeral like all ordinary citizens. Is it possible to find a quotable source for this? Google cache of discussion thread —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.106.237.228 (talk) 00:03, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Edit warring

[edit]

Please do not turn wikipedia into a political battlefield. This may not be the intent of the warring parties, but the result is the same. To the anon Ip, Ella added most of the stuff regarding the history and background of the trade unions from the Tony Tan article on my recommendation, as it was more relevant to OTC here. Also I don't get why the info about the diagnosis of his illness is getting removed. At the very least, move it to hte "Death" section, not just delete it. Also, Ella, though this is quite comprehensive stuff to provide context, it is reading more like an article on trade union history and his predecessor rather on OTC himself. Can it be trimmed down? I myself feel that suggest that the level of detail present should go into his predecessor's article (if there is one), or the labour relations article you were proposing when they are available, but lets see what other admins/editors feel about it.

And in addition to following wikipedia policy, since all parties involved are all Singaporeans in one way or another, let us at least show some respect for the guy and not use his article here as a platform for political reasons. Zhanzhao (talk) 01:54, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I plan on moving a lot of the background into currently-redlinked articles when I have the time. You can help me create these articles too! elle vécut heureuse à jamais (be free) 21:49, 24 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ironically 5 years to the date, this has turned into a battleground again. Please stick to what the sources say, do not add OR, and do not remove sources just because they run counter to the edit's "slant" Zhanzhao (talk) 02:50, 24 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
