"Issen" means one sen, not one yen and this correction is not vandalism. Should I bother to explain this to you? obviously you have little knowledge about historical Japanese currency.

I'm sorry for being a total jerk, but this kind of thing happens a lot with various users. I should've given a reason for the edit in the first place, the absence of which you reasonably thought it was an act of vandalism or a test by a novice — Preceding unsigned comment added by 221.25.70.62 (talk) 12:23, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

No problem, and I see that you have corrected the article. I apologize for jumping the gun... In my defense, I did do a quick web search and find that it is being translated as yen pretty much everywhere. Sen makes more sense now (to me), and I know NOTHING about the subject! — Tgeairn (talk) 12:29, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Everything I have added to the Barney Glaser article is completely factual. Why do you keep removing it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ricste (talkcontribs) 21:23, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

The only revision I have made on the Barney Glaser article is to re-add content that was removed without explanation. See here. — Tgeairn (talk) 21:37, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
It appears that you are referring to changes made by 67.188.201.99 (talk) — Tgeairn (talk) 21:42, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Hi. Actually, my edit did not remove any content. If you look closely, the content is exactly the same. I simply removed the data and referenced two templates instead (here and here). This way, if another article ever need a table with the election result, it too can reference this template instead of copy-pasting the whole table code. I will now go ahead and restore my edit. Best regards — Abjiklam (talkstalk) 17:35, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for following up, I definitely see that. I must have managed to get in between the page update and the template update. —Tgeairn (talk) 18:27, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Take 3 seconds, maybe?

And look up what I posted on Marcus Easley's page. If you looked up his name, the top google searches have current news sources that CLEARLY state he has a heart condition. Instead of taking the information off the page, it would've taken maybe a minute longer to put the right information on there, rather than delete it. I just changed it without adding a reference because someone put something ignorant on the page before me. (This is an account of an IP address you left a message to). Y5nthon5a (talk) 01:05, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your feedback. As you noted, Marcus Easley's page was getting a variety of unsourced (and VERY dubious) edits. I didn't take the 3 seconds to check your edit as it was unsourced as well. Especially when dealing with WP:BLP sourcing is critical. I reverted your edit and moved on. I apologize for any frustration that may have caused, as I am sure you were simply trying to set the record straight. Tgeairn (talk) 02:58, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Regarding the Declaration of Independence of New Zealand page, I was actually trying redirect it to the page on the Declaration of the Independence of New Zealand page to ease navigation. Thank you for the reference. The reason I reverted your edit was that it resulted in broken links for other pages and an image. If you wish to remake your edit, please update the links accordingly. Also, you may want to take the change to the discussion page first. It is likely that other editors will have a disagreement with the change in spelling. Thanks! California Gubernatorial Election, 1974

Not verifiable? The fact that 62.2% of the voters cast ballots for someone other than Jerry Brown is evident by a mere inspection of the result table that is included in the article and a simple computation. To say that 37.8% of voters being able to decide an election is "skewed" is a mild criticism. I included a link to runoff election, which is a concept designed to ensure that candidates are nominated with the consent of a majority of those voting.97.124.3.72 (talk) 17:03, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Hello. Your phrase "Such skewing of the popular will is common in states which do not require a runoff election when a candidate fails to obtain a majority of the votes cast", along with the (admittedly very simple) calculation you performed constitutes Original Research. If you have a reference for 'skewing of popular will', go ahead and re-add the statement (including the reference). Thanks! Tgeairn (talk) 17:12, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

User:Ronz provided explanation for his reverts in the edit summaries. Please review his edit summaries on the history tab of the page. It appears to me that the primary concern is that the references provided are not WP:Reliable sources, so I suggest you review that policy. Regarding [[WP:3RR], you have reposted the same information to the article repeatedly. That constitutes an edit war, even if you are sure you are correct. Read WP:3RR for next steps for you to take. I hope this helps. Tgeairn (talk) 22:31, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
They are copyright violations and you appear to be a blocked editor evading their block. Dougweller (talk) 22:22, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Edit warring

Your recent editing history at The Weeknd shows that you are in danger of breaking the three-revert rule, or that you may have already broken it. An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Breaking the three-revert rule often leads to a block.

If you wish to avoid being blocked, instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to discuss the changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. You may still be blocked for edit warring even if you do not exceed the technical limit of the three-revert rule if your behavior indicates that you intend to continue to revert repeatedly. Jim1138 (talk) 07:38, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Hello Jim, please review the changes I am reverting. The link the editor is adding is a site to download copyrighted material, and requires reversion. I am in contact with WikiMedia Oversight to get the history blanked. Thanks! --Tgeairn (talk) 07:41, 22 December 2011 (UTC)

Murata Jukō and Murata Shukō

There are two separate pages, Murata Jukō and Murata Shukō. They should be merged because they are the same person, only different pronunciations of his name! How can this be done? --Britannic124 (talk) 17:38, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

To get started with the process of merging two or more articles, first see WP:Merge and Help:Merging. Those two articles give the details of how to propose and discuss a merge.
In short, you will want to a) first determine which article to keep, b) place proposed merge templates on the pages (pointing both to a discussion section in the target article's talk page), c) discuss the merger and get consensus (this should be pretty easy given the low number of editors on the articles), and d) once a concensus has been reached - perform the merge. Each of these steps are described in detail i nthe WP:Merge and Help:Merging articles.
Having said all of that, since you are the only editor of Murata Shukō, if your intention is for the merged article to be Murata Jukō then you can proceed boldly with the merge.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions if you run into trouble, and be sure to read the articles on merging carefully before starting. Happy editing! --Tgeairn (talk) 19:58, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Repetitive Stress Injury

Hi Tgeairn,

I have significant experience as a sufferer of RSI for more that 6 years.

Extended content
Here is my story.

Homeopathy literally saved me from the hell I was going through. It is up to you to decide, whether to look for "Scientific" evidence of Homeopathy until you include or help thousands out there that are suffering with it.

Here is my story....

I had Repetitive Stress Injury, where my arms were sore every day by end of day. Pain used to run from forearms to elbows. My shoulders used to have sharp shooting pains due to usage of Mouse.Doctors diagnosed it as Tendinitis.I used to apply Ice packs before going to bed. Gone through several Physio therapy sessions to “strengthen” muscles.

Gone to some of the best sports medicine doctors out there, including to the one who used to treat players of “Dallas Cowboys”, the football team of Dallas.

Six years passed by, with this pain with out any result. Yes that is 6 years of pain ..with no hope in sight.

Finally I tried Homeopathy ….The pain went away like a magic…. The medicine is called “Bellis Perennis”, it is made from a common plant called “English Daisy” a wild plant that is very commonly seen.

I have taken it three times in one day. Yes one day, for three times. ( 1m potency, 3 times in one day )

That’s it….

Now please guide me so that we can help save other RSI sufferers... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Srinikoganti (talkcontribs) 03:05, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Hello! As someone who also suffers from RSI (possibly due to way too many hours on Wikipedia!), I am also always interested in alternative ways to ease suffering. However, your edits did not provide a reliable source to back your claims. Your personal story is an interesting one, and I am glad that you are finding relief. Unfortunately, personal anecdotes are at best original research and can't be used as a source in an article. Please go ahead and locate reliable source(s) and add those to the RSI article. If you need help figuring out what kind of sources to use, or how to cite those sources, check out the links in this response. If you still need assistance, feel free to ask me here! Thanks, and happy editing. --Tgeairn (talk) 03:15, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

References for Homeopathy remedy medicine "Bellis Perennis"

Hi Tgeairn,

Here are some links to the Homepathy medicine "Bellis Perennis" that I was mentioning about.

http://www.homeopathyplanet.com/AudeSapere/Study%20Room/MMCharts/Bellis%20perennis.pdf http://www.homeoint.org/books/boericmm/b/bell-p.htm http://www.vithoulkas.com/en/books-study/online-materia-medica/2279.html http://hpathy.com/ebooks/boerickes-materia-medica/bellis-perennis/ http://abchomeopathy.com/r.php/Bell-p http://www.homeopathyandmore.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=355

I urge you to use it for yourself to get convinced.

We are so used to believing what allopathy doctors say and we think that is the whole truth.

As you know, our science is evolving and can't answer lot of questions.

And more over, drug companies want Homeopathy and other alternative medicine to die so that they can more profits. So it is very common to see the medical journals and research community bad mouth Homeopathy.

Please let me know if you need any further info.

I have no ulterior motive other than helping RSI sufferers.

Per WP:USERG, I would consider the Buzz Jack site a Self-Published site (therefore not a WP:Reliable source) as it contains "...content [that] is largely user-generated." The exception would be if the referenced material is clearly posted by a credentialed member of the site's editorial staff (in this context, that means a credentialed member of the press). A quick review of the site didn't clearly indicate if the moderators are credentialed (and I would think it is unlikely). So... if there is any controversy, I don't think Buzz Jack stands up as a reliable source. --Tgeairn (talk) 20:05, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Okay, thanks for that, I think the main editor is a person called vidcapper, I'm currently messaging him on where he retrieves the information from, even though from my point of view buzzjack's sales are accurate, you're right, we cannot tell — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maximuman (talkcontribs) 20:13, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

"Fan Death"-Super Smash Brothers

"Fan Death" is the term from the popular Nintendo 64 game "Super Smash Brothers" wherein a person's character is disposed via "The Fan". This is generally considered the most embarrassing way to die in the game. The humiliation is two sided. First, death via a fan is almost impossible because the fan does such little damage to a character. Secondly, it's a fan. Compared to the other weapons in the game i.e. Hammer, Bat, Green Shell etc, this is by far the weakest and least fought over weapon. All of this adds to the overall charm and distinction of actually meeting defeat at the hands of someone wielding a fan. All you can do is lower your head and walk away in shame. And if your friends make fun of you mercilessly, pull out the game cartridge while they are playing, and try to break it against the dumpster behind your house. This insures no more humiliation of death via The Fan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.254.45.34 (talk) 21:17, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

I have no opinion or argument with your depiction of "Fan Death" in the game. However, you will need to provide a reliable source for the information if you want to include it in the article. Possibly a better location would be in the article about the game itself? Thanks! --Tgeairn (talk) 21:25, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

If I provide a link, can you add it to the page? I'm having a hard time referencing it properly? The second portion is more just for fun but the first portion is absolutely true and quite a cult phenomenon in gamer circles http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Fan — Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.254.45.34 (talk) 22:06, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

The code you will want to include after your text is:
<ref>{{Citation | url = http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Fan | accessdate = 2012-01-05 }}</ref>
Just put the above after your addition to the article and a reference will be added to the list at the bottom.
HOWEVER! The article you have been adding the text to is about the Korean Myth Fan Death. I suggest you look for another article more appropriate to the addition (maybe Super Smash Bros., but I'm not a gamer so I don't know). --Tgeairn (talk) 22:18, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

The Frisch School

Hi, I believe you locked the page entitled The Frisch School. Currently it is inaccurate and I am unable to change it. Can you revert it back to what it was a few days ago? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iamnostalgic (talkcontribs) 00:21, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

re:January 2012

It is foolish of me to try to contribute to wiki and take the time to source information when users undo any information that is new. I placed an update on the Uwe Boll page and provided a link to a 96 page legal document that verified my every word, also, my summery used much kinder wording than the document by keeping it neutral. Pot

The facts that the government distributes are lies at best and should not be taken seriously. In fact the most important facts about cannibis(marijuana) are often left out of government approved websites. For example, in order to overdose on pot you would need to smoke your body weight in pot within an hour. For those of you who don't know, 1 gram of pot can make 16 cigarrettes and there are 453 grams in a pound — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chicken516 (talkcontribs) 18:41, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

And I care because...? Your contribution history doesn't show any editing related to cannibis, so I'm not sure why you're giving me unsourced facts here. As an aside, I consider your assertion highly dubious. --Tgeairn (talk) 18:45, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Why can't we mention that the Gold Coast is the host of the 2018 Commonwealth Games? And that our national sporting teams play in our two major new stadiums at Carrara Stadium and Robina Stadium? There are pages about all of these facts already - why can't they be added to the Gold Coast page. The gold coast is trying to grow its reputation as a serious city but does not have a lot going for it besides its tourism and beaches - the stadiums and the commonwealth games may not seem like a big deal to you - but for the Gold Coast I feel they are worth a mention to help people to understand the city and its idenity. I have reverted your edit to this page, as the content you removed is sourced and the person is indeed nominated for the award under which he is listed so whether he is notable according to Wikipedia guidelines is irrelevant.12bigbrother12 (talk) 20:33, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Regarding the page Gestapo

Hello.

Recently, a large amount of content was removed from Gestapo (by another IP editor). You reverted the removal as "unexplained removal of content", however, the removal was explained as libel, therefore, in my opinion, it should not be speedily reverted, however, since the removal was indeed large, I suggest starting a discussion on the corresponding talk page in order to contest the removal.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank you. 75.53.212.214 (talk) 22:14, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for your message. I don't have an opinion one way or the other on the issue, although it is unlikely that so much sourced material could be considered libel. A quick perusal of the talk page indicated that there has been some discussion over time to arrive at the current version of the article. I will not be starting an additional discussion on the material, but given the visibility of the article, I am sure other editors will. I left a message on the talk page of the editor who removed the content as well. Thanks again, and happy editing! --Tgeairn (talk) 22:20, 12 January 2012 (UTC)
As a lawyer, 75.53.212.214, I can tell you there is no "libel" going on herein. This is no untruth about another which will do harm to that living person; they are all long since dead. The article is not about a living person but of an organization of members which was condemned as a criminal organization. The article is well written and much of it is well cited; I have been a major author of the article. Kierzek (talk) 14:06, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Formal mediation has been requested

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Helter Skelter (Manson scenario)". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 5 February 2012.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

Hi, I added my name to your list of Famous Vegetarians. I draw and write Hagar The Horrible, an internationally syndicate comic strip and I also draw cartoons for Playboy and other magazines. I've been a vegetarian for over 40 years, so I thought this would be a valid addition.

Best wishes, Chris Browne Chrisbrowne2 (talk) 23:56, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi Chris. It looks like your addition to the list is being removed by another editor due to lack of a reliable source. I'm sure you can understand that in general self-published sources are not considered reliable as they lack editorial review, and using such sources could lead to many problems with disputed content. Although the editor may have been correct to remove your entry, if there is a third-party source for the addition then that would make things easier. Are you aware of any interviews or books or similar publication where you indicate that you are a vegetarian? Happy Editing! (by the way, I'm a big fan of Hagar!) --Tgeairn (talk) 00:11, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Hello... I initially was cleaning up vandalism on the page (by other editors, not you). Since completing some of that cleanup, I have also removed some items from the article that are listed in the WikiProject Schools Article Guidelines list of what not to include. Please take a look at those guidelines and see if you can further improve the article. Great work so far, and Happy Editing! --Tgeairn (talk) 19:34, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Regarding an edit you reverted

Regarding: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:24.80.181.205 where you reverted an edit of the page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aled_Jones_%28radio_producer%29

The sentence in question has been removed, which is fine, but I do not agree with you reverting my original change. My change is factually correct, but that's not the point.

  1. I do not think it's reasonable to require a source to prove somebody's sexual orientation. In general, this is not required for straight people.
  2. It's not controversial to change the sex of their partner.

preceeding comment added by 24.80.181.205 (talk · contribs)

Thank you for asking. I don't have any personal knowledge of Mr. Jones, and only ran across your edit in the scope of my usual vandalism patrolling. I saw that several editors were adding terms like 'gay' and other more derogatory phrases to the page, while other editors were removing those terms. When I saw the change from 'girlfriend' to 'boyfriend', it looked like more of the same vandalism. I reverted the edit and left the message you referenced indicating that a citation would be needed for a gender change like that. If I had happened to be patrolling the page at the time it changed from boyfriend to girlfriend, then I would have requested the same citation for the change. It is only controversial if either: there is no other source in the article (for instance if someone updated US President George Washington's article to indicate that Martha was his husband), or if there is in fact a sourced controversy. When dealing with biographies of living people, unsourced material is almost always to be removed - even if it seems fairly benign. The later editor who removed the unsourced sentence entirely was correct to do so.
I appreciate your reading of my somewhat lengthy reply. It is important to me that my edits (and reverts) do not bias an article in any particular direction, and in this case I would have benefitted from looking back in the article history to before the vandalism began and seeing that 'boyfriend' was the stable version. I also see that I made a judgement that the name 'Emile' was a female name, and I should not have made that judgement - even Wikipedia disagrees with me on that one (see Emil (given name)). I will learn from this and (hopefully!) not make the same mistake next time.
Thanks again, and Happy Editing! --Tgeairn (talk) 16:16, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Sounds good. Thanks!

Thanks for asking! One of the primary pillars of Wikipedia is that content must be verifiable and from reliable sources. If there are neutral reliable sources then you will find it much easier to include the ideas you mention. If there are such sources saying things like CYE is the most successful show ever, or that the acting was superb, or whatever... then you would want to find a neutral way to cite those sources in the article. Check out the links above and see what you can come up with. Happy Editing! --Tgeairn (talk) 04:30, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
