Event activites
[edit]This event invites its attendees to edit Wikipedia articles related to HIV/AIDS. Since Wikipedia is a summary of what reliable publications have already reported, participants can prepare for the event by identifying information that they wish to share in reliable publications. Wikipedia's standard of reliability matches academic opinions, so if a university librarian would approve of a source, Wikipedia will also!
- Prepare before the event
- Please create a Wikipedia account before the event
- While logged into your Wikipedia account, register for the event on wiki
- Outside of Wikipedia, identify a publication which you find interesting and worthwhile to share
- Based on the publication you choose, take your own notes about some individual facts
- During the event
- Only after you have a publication to cite and some facts to share, browse relevant Wikipedia articles to see if this information is present
- If your information is not already in Wikipedia, then click the edit button at the top to add it.
- Be sure to use a citation after every sentence you add!
Note that before the event, your focus for preparation should be the research you do outside of Wikipedia for identifying good sources of information to cite!
