Yitzhar Hofman (Hebrew: יצהר הופמן; 1987 – 31 January 2024) was an Israeli Major who was a commander in the Israeli Air Force's elite Shaldag Unit.[2][3][4]

He was a commander in the Israeli Air Force's elite Shaldag unit during the battles with Palestinian militants in the northern Gaza Strip.[5] Hofman was one of the leading Israeli air force commanders who played key roles in the Israel-Hamas war. He was responsible for the raid on Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza in November 2023. He was supervising the attack and siege on the medical compound.[6][7]

On 31 January 2024, Hoffman was killed by a Hamas sniper, that then documented his tracking before fatally shooting him with a "Ghoul" rifle (A modified variant of the Steyr HS .50).[8]
